Challenge

With a milestone anniversary looming, Intouch was faced with an epic challenge: to not just mark the occasion but to leverage the moment in history and propel the company and brand forward to even higher heights. Remarkable success and company growth – while certainly welcomed – provided additional challenges, with nearly 1000 employees from six affiliates scattered across the globe in eight locations. Logistics aside, the goal was exhilarating but daunting: to make the event wildly engaging, deeply informative, genuinely inspiring, profoundly community-minded, unexpectedly surprising and, of course, FUN.

Insight

From the employee perspective:

Intouchers were craving something more than just a party. They wanted a reason to attend, a reason to believe, a reason to amp up their personal and professional engagement.  An opportunity to better understand the purpose of the company. A chance to reconnect in a meaningful way with coworkers and make a difference in the community.

From the agency perspective:

We would be remiss to not think big-picture, beyond the moment and even current employees. This event would allow us to spread the good word about Intouch to the industry, the community and prospective recruits.

Solution

The event, the feeling, the experience we called (re)GROUP.
ONE INTOUCH. ONE EPIC REUNION.

From the welcome party the night before to registration, pop-up offices, team and department breakouts, a philanthropic activity benefitting Heart to Heart International and Ronald McDonald House, a killer town hall and finally, a blowout party taking over a full city block and featuring an enormous spread of food and drink, and Third Eye Blind in a private concert, every detail was meticulously planned to provide the ultimate in experiential engagement while beautifully designed branding, branding and more branding created a cohesive look and feel on every sign, poster, name badge, video, slide, t-shirt and every other touchpoint you can think of.

But this was much more than just pretty branding. Inspiring content, motivating leadership messages setting the stage for the next 20 years, the unveiling of refreshed values and purpose, and more than one “giving back” moment all brought applause, cheers, standing ovations, goosebumps and even tears. (The happy, proud kind.)

Make-A-Wish

An emotional highlight for many Intouchers was a surprise Make-A-Wish moment that served as a poignant yet uplifting reminder of why our work is ultimately so important: the patient. Cancer survivor Gavin was invited to our town hall to tell his story but unbeknownst to him, a thrilling surprise was in store. Intouch granted his wish to visit Disney World and the new Star Wars theme park, Galaxy’s Edge, in appropriately theatrical fashion.

Highlights of his wish reveal included Yoda (voiced by Tom Kane, the actual voice of Yoda in many Star Wars films) calling in from outer space to tee up the surprise, Darth Vader and his loyal Storm Troopers’ dramatic entrance to the Imperial March, and a bon voyage farewell under a 100-foot-long lightsaber arch.

Our entire family cannot thank you all enough for the truly amazing Wish Reveal! We are so grateful and humbled that you chose Gavin to honor in such a magnificent way. What an amazing group of individuals working together to make an amazing company.

Not only was it good medicine for us to gather and celebrate 20 years of Intouch, but the town hall was just what this guy needed to re-kindle, re-focus and re-emerge even more excited by my place in our ranks. I was reminded of why we do what we do.

— Sean, Intoucher

Intouch threw a birthday party this week that was ABSOLUTELY out of this world! I love my team and the incredibly talented people I work with every day! Happy 20 years, Intouch, and I hope you keep rocking on for 200 more.

Earlier today, I witnessed one thing that just makes me swell up with a number of emotions. While celebrating the 20th anniversary of Intouch (proud to work here!) we were introduced to Make A Wish and a 13-year-old, Gavin, who was diagnosed with bone cancer. Gavin is apparently a huge Star Wars fan … and with Star Wars music interrupting a speech, Gavin was granted his wish and is going to Disney World! No shame, I was in tears and so so so proud to work for a company that donates to this incredible foundation. Such a good reminder that we have so much to be thankful for.

— Tyler, Intoucher

Thank you for planning and executing such an incredible few days in Kansas City. We laughed, we ugly cried (thanks for the tissues) and we had a blast getting to meet so many people we communicate with regularly and never get to see.
